Raksha Bandhan is a Hindu festival celebrating the bond of love of a brother and sister. It is celebrated in the Hindu month of Shravana (July/August) on the full moon day. The day is marked by tying a rakhi on the wrist of a brother by the sister and is done with the essence of praying for their long life and happiness.

Celebration of Rakhi in modern times might not fit into the norm. The patriarchal undertones of the festival seem to be fading away, leaving it as a celebration of affection and sibling love.
