Marketing Strategies to Promote your Home Based Business of Baking

  1. You Start With Friends & Family
You heard that right! Take your first step to spread a word amongst your friends & family. And ask them to share with their friends and network.
Family & friends who buy from you ABSOLUTELY count as clients. (Side note – never give them more than a 10% discount though.) This CRUCIAL first step is very important for every humble new business beginning.
  2. Honour Your Own Commitment
Make a commitment to yourself to just do it. Choose a date and time that you’re going to send the message. Put this date and time on your calendar. You’ll only do this if you put it on your calendar. If it’s not on your calendar, you’ll always find another reason to procrastinate. Just write a message, send it to everyone, and be done with it. If you wait to “feel 100% ready” to tell people about your business, you’ll be waiting forever.
  3. Create Your Worth
Your commitment to high quality ingredients baked with variety and flavours offered with utmost love to deliver a smile on the face of your client will get you the fan falling and your clients sticking to you for future orders. Focus on your reputation as a home baker, and once people think you’re worth the effort, they make your efforts worthwhile.
  4. Delivery: Overcome the Limitation
The major challenge faced in running a home based business as a baker is delivery. Find out local food based delivery apps, register yourself and don’t limit your reach to potential customers.
  5. Be Innovative
Anyone can bake a cake. Innovation is required. Bring your own personal flair. Diversity Attracts. You can innovate not only with the items but also with the format of your business. For instance, creating WhatsApp Business Catalog to display your bakes and items and to order. Also list yourself to provide catering services. Catering for birthdays and anniversaries is a great way to come into the limelight as well. Also participate in your society’s food stalls.
  6. Don’t Miss Out On To Capture The Crowd That Hovers On Social Media Platforms.
You should focus on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest. Create visual stories, share your customers’ happy feedback, click pictures with your happy clients, post around your baked items. Sell your baked goods through social media. Record your experiments in the kitchen. People connect with you and your reality world. So get involved.
  7. Use Local, Food Related Hashtags On Instagram
Use hashtags on Instagram. Tag your local stores and your friends and networks. Use hashtags local specific as per your reach and delivery.
  8. Word Of Mouth Still Wins
Word of mouth is still, by far, the best strategy to grow a business! Whether you’ve just started your home bakery or been going for years; word of mouth trumps any other form of marketing. Seriously; 1000 flyers are less effective than 1 person telling their best friend, you’ve GOT to order from this bakery!”
Remember this line: People buy from businesses they know, like and trust.
  9. Take Great Care Of Your Clients
If you take great care of your clients they WILL talk about your business. When a client loves your business, they’ll promote your business FOR you – and for free! Remember that home baking is all about personal touch. So, every single moment you’re in contact with a client you need to CARE. Make them feel good & special. Be faithful with the clients you have now. And see how from 4 people it will grow to 400.
  10.  Make Baking A Reason to Socialise
Organise DIY workshops with your clients. Teach them how to bake different goodies which they can enjoy there and then together over a cup of coffee and some chit chat. You obviously keep a price for a workshop and share the experience and joy of your clients over social media.
